I specialize in reducing shame, fostering self-compassion, accessing deep inner knowing, and mending relationships.

Are you feeling stuck in patterns of self-criticism and judgment?

Do you find yourself longing for a sense of purpose and direction?

Are you looking for a counselor who values deep introspection and meaningful dialogue? And then helps you communicate these insights to the people you care about most?

Before I became a counselor, I was a scientist and a teacher. I hold an undergraduate degree in physics and a graduate degree in Biophysics and Biochemistry. Through my experiences in working in a scientific research lab, and embarking upon my own healing and recovery journey, I realized that although I enjoyed some aspects of scientific research, I was missing something vital- human connection and collaboration. After I left the scientific field, I was a high school math teacher for five years.

Being a teacher taught me a lot about human nature, the mental health struggles of teenagers, and the familial and societal dynamics that contribute to an inability to fully engage in our lives. I also learned that I loved working with teenagers and helping them navigate the complicated and emotional experience of being a teenager. But I wanted to be able to help them, and all of our inner teenagers, in more intentional ways. To do this I knew I needed more skills and training to do so I obtained my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University.

I see shame as our biggest barrier to authenticity and joy. It can hold us back from living the fulfilling life we deserve, and keeps us from forming meaningful relationships. Through looking at your past experiences, I will work to help you gain an understanding of how your past impacts how you show up in the present. This understanding will help you reduce your shame, increase your self-love and self-acceptance, and find ways to show up and cope that align with your values and your most authentic self.

Additionally, I work from the framework that the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves impact all aspects of our lives. This also applies to the language we use when we tell these stories. I will work with you to rewrite these stories to shift how you think and how you feel about yourself, allowing you to engage more meaningfully in life.

My goal is to help you access your own wise inner knowing. I will work to help you turn down the volume on the loud voices of your trauma, your addiction, and your mental health struggles so that your wise inner voice can be heard more easily and clearly. This will help you to live in a way that is aligned with your values and authentic self.

My counseling orientation is humanistic, holistic, trauma-informed, and attachment oriented. I combine a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and polyvagal techniques, to create a comprehensive framework for growth and healing.

I know through my own experience the power of being seen, heard, and held for exactly who we are without judgment, and I am committed to providing this for all of my clients. I am also a scientist and analyst who excels at recognizing patterns and making connections. This combination of emotional attunement and intellectual curiosity make me the ideal companion on your journey of self-discovery. Through engaging discussions and exploration of your inner world, I feel confident I’ll be able to help guide you towards greater self-awareness, personal growth, meaning, and contentment.

I am a person in recovery from substance use and trauma and I belong to both the neurodivergent and queer communities. I am passionate about working with complex trauma, addiction, LGBTQIA+ populations, and neurodivergent populations in both adolescents and adults.

When I’m not at work you can find me cuddling with my beloved cat Jack, playing cozy games on my Nintendo Switch, reading a fantasy novel, or doing puzzles and playing various board games with my spouse.

All of our clients are seen, heard, and valued for exactly who they are.
