Our 3-Step Coaching Approach
By following our three-step approach, you’ll gain the insight and tools to create lasting change and a stronger parent-child connection.
STEP 1
Compassionate Curiosity
We begin with understanding—not fixing. Together, we create a safe space for you to talk openly about your challenges. We get clear on what’s really going on beneath the concerning behaviors and identify the skills you need to prevent them.
STEP 2
Collaborative Problem Solving
We introduce the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model, developed by Dr. Ross Greene. You’ll learn how to partner with your co-parent and your child to solve problems before they lead to explosive behavior. You’ll shift from reacting in the moment to planning proactively—and from feeling stuck to feeling empowered.
STEP 3
Ongoing Support and Integration
We support you as you build new habits and shift the culture of your home. You’ll practice tools that foster trust and resilience, so you can respond to challenges with calm confidence—even on the hard days.
A Powerful Resource for Co-Parents
Parent Coaching is a game-changer for co-parents who are no longer living together and want to parent more effectively across two homes.
Whether you’re navigating a new divorce, have been separated for years, or are struggling with a high-conflict dynamic, this work offers a roadmap for reducing tension and increasing trust—between you and your co-parent, and between each of you and your child.
Even if you’re not on the same page (yet), we help both parents shift from blame to curiosity, and from reactivity to responsiveness. We focus on building consistency and collaboration—without requiring emotional closeness or agreement on everything.
You'll Learn How To:
- Establish shared parenting goals
- Communicate in ways that reduce conflict and emotional reactivity
- Make decisions that reflect your child’s unique needs and strengths
- Rebuild trust where it’s been fractured
We’ve seen tremendous breakthroughs, even in situations where communication had completely broken down. Our approach doesn’t ask you to be perfect—it asks you to be committed to doing what’s best for your child. And that’s something we can build on, together.
You’re Not in This Alone. We Offer Flexible Options to Support Your Family.
What Parents Gain From CPS Parent Coaching
Families often come to CPS Parent Coaching feeling exhausted, disconnected, and unsure whether change is possible without more conflict or control. Many parents worry that their child is “too resistant,” that family meetings never go well, or that trying something new will only make things worse.
What parents consistently discover is something different.
With support, families are often surprised by their children’s willingness to participate when expectations are adjusted to match capacity and pressure is reduced. Parents gain a deeper understanding of how well-intended strategies can unintentionally increase stress, and they learn how to shift out of Plan A in ways that protect trust rather than erode it.
Rather than being handed a script to follow perfectly, parents practice CPS tools in real time, ask questions as situations arise, and learn how to navigate moments of uncertainty with more confidence. The focus is on building shared language, clearer expectations, and realistic ways to move forward that feel fair and sustainable for everyone involved.
CPS Parent Coaching is not about quick fixes or forced alignment. It is about helping families experience safety, participation, and problem-solving in a way that actually lasts.
What Often Surprises Parents Most
Many parents tell me they did not expect:
Their child to engage at all, especially if there has been a lot of resistance in the past
Family conversations to feel calmer and less charged
To gain so much clarity about which expectations are worth holding and which ones need to be let go for now
To feel more confident using CPS tools without needing to “get it right”
These shifts create momentum, even when not every problem is solved yet.
How This Supports Long-Term Change
CPS Parent Coaching helps families:
Strengthen their relationship
Learn how to notice and respond to capacity before things escalate
Practice collaboration in ways that respect autonomy and energy limits
Build alignment around principles rather than perfection
Develop a shared understanding that fairness is capacity-based, not equal
Families leave with practical tools, shared language, and a clearer path forward, even when challenges remain.
Whether you’re facing school refusal, explosive outbursts, or just the exhaustion of parenting in today’s world, we’re here to help. You don’t need to wait for a crisis to get support. If you’re ready to stop fighting and start connecting, we’re here for you.
À La Carte Sessions
You don’t have to make a long-term commitment to see real change. Many families find that we can make meaningful progress in as few as 3 targeted sessions, especially when we’re focused on communication and collaborative problem-solving.
Coaching Packages
If you’re looking for more ongoing support, we offer a Coaching Package:
Pay for 4 sessions up front and receive the 5th session free. This is a great option for parents wanting to build momentum and consistency over time.

Ready for the Next Step?
Whether you’re looking for individual parent coaching, support around co-parenting, or want to work through parenting-related dynamics with a current or former partner, these sessions are designed to help you improve communication and practice collaborative problem-solving. They are, however, not intended to treat a mental health diagnosis and therefore are not billable through insurance. These services are offered on a private-pay basis only.
All of our counselors offering these services have received advanced training in the Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) model—a compassionate, research-based approach that helps families resolve conflicts by understanding lagging skills and unmet needs, not by imposing control or consequences.
If you’re curious to learn more about CPS, you can scroll about halfway down our Family Resources Page for a detailed overview.
If this feels like the right kind of support for you, we’d be happy to get you scheduled with a clinician who specializes in this work and can walk you through what to expect during a free 15-minute Exploratory Call.
